Blackjack Books

When I first started playing blackjack, there were only a few relatively good blackjack books out there. Often very mathematical, they were great for professional players - but for occasional players like myself looking to turn the odds in our favour, they were very difficult. Today, the market gets flooded with loads and loads of books (often of very mediocre quality), and that means picking the correct blackjack book to fit your needs is now possible, but anything but easy. On this page, I focus on the 2 blackjack books that I recommend to friends and family members who would like to get into the world of profitable blackjack...

The Blackjack Bluebook II

The first version of Fred Renzey's Blackjack Bluebook was a great start, but his revized 2006 edition is the one you really want. Not only giving you the basic strategy information, but explaining it in depth allows you to gain a deeper insight in the beautiful game of blackjack.

After he feels you have the basics down as a player, he helps you turn a minor losing rate in a winning rate with a couple very simple counting techniques that should work for even mathematically handicapped people like a lot of us are.

I bought this book myself back in 2006 when it came out, and even though I was a seasoned player already, I learned quite a lot of stuff from reading it. I dearly recommend it, and it's available at Amazon for under $15.

Blackjack For Blood: The Card-Counters' Bible, and Complete Winning Guide

Blackjack For Blood: The Card-Counters' Bible, and Complete Winning Guide by Bryce Carlson is one of my other all-time favorites as it introduced a level two card counting system that I myself use to this day. It's surprisingly simple advanced count that allows players to control a lot more than the simple Hi-Lo and KO counts we talk about on our web site. It's harder to master, off course, but the rewards are very much there. This book, albeit a small investment, has the potential to actually turn you into a blackjack winner.

I realize there are more good books out there, but I feel these two above actually do the trick quite nicely. If you're looking to increase your knowledge about the game - they're a great read!
